We have resumed our participation actions. On October 23, at the headquarters of the Comunidad de Regantes Huerta de Ebro, in Fuentes de Ebro (Zaragoza), we met the co-creation group dedicated to mitigation and adaptation actions in zone 2, the Osera de Ebro – Fuentes de Ebro section.
An interesting meeting with many topics to discuss. The first is to present the proposal for the adaptation of agricultural areas with the creation of lateral buffer zones which, through the pre-flooding of farms before episodes of extraordinary flooding, will reduce the impact and, above all, reduce the recovery time of the land.
The Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and TRAGSATEC presented a very illustrative video modeling the functioning of these buffer zones. In addition, the progress of the project of the Government of Aragon, through TRAGSA, for the adaptation of the irrigation area was reviewed, as well as the project for the enlargement of the fluvial space and recessing of defenses, a project of the CHE that has just concluded its public information phase.
The co-creation groups are stable forums for work and deliberation in which technical representatives of the project’s partner administrations participate together with the local population.
- Adaptation and mitigation: this group aims to propose actions to improve the mitigation and adaptation interventions planned in the LIFE Project, analyze other similar problems in the vicinity, work on proposals for follow-up actions of the work carried out and collaborate in the replication of actions in other areas of the middle stretch of the Ebro.
- Nature and biodiversity: group that deals with the restoration actions planned in the two intervention areas and promotes a better understanding of the environmental values of the rivers.
- Participation and training: group that, in the area of public participation, dissemination and strengthening of the population’s capacities in the face of floods, promotes actions for this purpose and supports the rest of the groups.
